The College was founded by a group of public-spirited citizens who recognized the need for large opportunities for University education was started at Wardha in 1935 as Wasudeo Arts College was shifted to Nagpur in 1942 and named as National College
Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, took over the management of this College in 1949. In 1951,LateShrimant Dadasaheb Dhanwate gave a donation of Rs. 60,000 to the Society after that it was named as Dhanwate National college.The College underwent accreditation process in academic session 2003-2004 and was accredited B++ Grade by NAAC.
